Instagram announced in a blog the launch of Instagram Shop in the US, a new e-commerce hub that lets merchants sell products and take payments via Facebook Pay. A new Shop tab will also appear in the navigation tab this year.
Insta shop as some prefer to call it, will help you discover the latest trends, get personalized recommendations, and preview exclusive launches, all in one place, so you can browse and buy the products that you love.
According to Instagram, checkouts will be done on Facebook pay; “a seamless, secure way to shop and make donations to causes you care about across our apps. It features an extra layer of security with the ability to add a unique PIN or device biometrics, such as Touch or Face ID. We also provide Purchase Protection on eligible products that you buy using checkout.”
Instagram shop is only available in the US but will expand globally in the coming weeks, says the blog post.
Facebook is working assiduously to ensure its platforms perform optimally in service to business users, particularly. Last month it rolled out WhatsApp New, Payment System, Facebook Pay, To Send Money Within a chat.
